From the answers
For a small brand with a tight budget, the absolute cheapest way to get User-Generated Content (UGC) ads made is the "DIY + Micro-Creator" hybrid approach, cutting out middleman agencies and expensive production fees. The most cost-effective strategies, ranked from cheapest/most hands-on to slightly more automated, include: The Product-for-Content (Gifted) Exchange via TikTok/Instagram Search How it works: Search hashtags like #ugccreator, #ugccreatorsearch, or #microinfluencer on TikTok or Instagram. Look for creators with 1,000 to 10,000 followers who have great camera presence but low brand deal history. Reach out via DM offering free product + a small commission (via an affiliate link) or a very flat fee ($50–$100) just to review or film an unboxing. Cost: Cost of goods shipped + shipping + $0 to $50. Affordable Self-Serve UGC Marketplaces How it works: Use platforms like Collabstr, JoinBrands, or Billo. These platforms let you post a brief, and nano-creators or beginner UGC artists apply. You can often get a raw, vertical short-form video starting around $50 to $150 per video, especially if you use gifted or low-cost tiers. Cost: $50 – $150 per video. Backstage +1 In-House / Customer-Sourced (Zero Dollar Option) How it works: Reach out directly to existing customers who have already posted about your product organically. Send them a polite DM or email asking for permission to use their video as a spark/ad, and offer them a discount code, a cash bonus ($30-$50), or free merch in exchange for usage rights. Cost: Free to $50. The "Do-It-Yourself" Creator Route How it works: Grab your own phone, stand near a bright window, put the phone on a cheap tripod, and film yourself doing a hook, problem/solution breakdown, and unboxing. Use a free editor like CapCut to add auto-captions and fast cuts. Often, raw founder-led UGC converts better than polished creator videos for early-stage brands. Cost: $0 (just your time). For a small brand with a tight budget, the absolute cheapest way to get User-Generated Content (UGC) ads is to leverage product barter and organic outreach, followed closely by low-cost micro-marketplaces. Reddit · r/AskMarketing Here is a ranked breakdown of the most cost-effective methods, from free (product-only) to low-cost ($30–$100 per video). 1. Free / Barter Strategy (Cost: Free + Product Cost) The Concept: Reach out to nano-influencers (1k–10k followers) or existing happy customers and offer them free product in exchange for an honest review or unboxing video that you secure the rights to use as an ad. Reddit · r/AskMarketing Why it works: Nano-influencers and everyday buyers are often thrilled to get free merchandise and aren't expecting a massive cash retainer. Reddit · r/AskMarketing How to execute: Filter your customer database or search TikTok/Instagram with niche hashtags. Send a short, personalized DM or email: "Hey [Name], we love your style/content! We’d love to send you a free [Product] to try out. If you love it and want to film a quick, honest 30-second unboxing or review for us to run as an ad (with whitelisting/usage rights), we’d be thrilled. Let us know if you're interested!" Pro Tip: Always clarify usage rights in writing before sending the product. Make sure they agree that you can use the raw video files for paid advertising, not just a standard post on their feed. Reddit · r/AskMarketing 2. Repurpose Organic Customer Tags & Mentions (Cost: Free) The Concept: Scan your social media notifications, branded hashtags, and tagged photos. If a real customer has already posted a video about your product, you hit the jackpot. Reddit · r/AskMarketing Why it works: Real, organic customer content usually converts better than paid creator content because it has zero "scripted" feel. Reddit · r/AskMarketing How to execute: Reach out directly via DM: "Hey! Thanks so much for posting this, it looks amazing. We’d love your permission to feature this clip

For a small brand with a tight budget, getting high-performing User Generated Content (UGC) doesn't require hiring expensive creative agencies or paying thousands of dollars per video. The secret to cheap UGC is embracing raw, unpolished authenticity—because hyper-polished videos often underperform compared to a phone video shot in a kitchen or car. Reddit · r/AskMarketing +1 Ranked from easiest/cheapest to most structured, here are the best ways for a small brand to get UGC ads made: The DIY & "Founding Customer" Method (Cost: Free to cost of product) How it works: Reach out to your existing happy customers via email or DM. Offer them a free restock, a gift card, or a cash incentive (e.g., $30–$50) if they send you a 15-to-30-second video talking about why they love your product. Alternatively, film yourself, your team, or your friends using the product. Why it's great: It is the absolute cheapest route, and real customers naturally use the exact vernacular and pain points that convert. Tip: Make sure to grab a quick signed text or digital release granting you ad usage rights before putting money behind it as an ad. Reddit · r/AskMarketing Barter with Micro-Influencers (Cost: Free product + shipping) How it works: Find micro-influencers (1k–10k followers) on TikTok or Instagram who already fit your niche. Send them a direct message offering a free product in exchange for an honest review or unboxing video. Why it's great: You spend only your cost-of-goods. Many micro-influencers are eager for brand collaborations and will happily provide raw vertical video files. Tip: Clarify before sending the product that you need the raw video files and whitelisting/ad usage rights to run it as an ad, not just a post on their personal feed. Reddit · r/AskMarketing Budget Micro-Creator Marketplaces (Cost: $30 – $100 per video) How it works: Use freelance platforms like Fiverr or creator networks like Billo where entry-level UGC creators offer lower-cost packages. You ship them a

About this question
What's the cheapest way for a small brand to get UGC ads made?
Over the last four weeks, AI answers to this question named Billo (46 of 59 answers), Collabstr (34 of 59 answers) and JoinBrands (32 of 59 answers) most often. That is how often a name shows up, not a ranking of quality.
How is this measured?
The question is asked as written each week in logged-out US sessions. A brand's figure is the share of this question's valid answers that name it, over a rolling four weeks. To see how AI answers treat your own brand, run the free AI visibility scan at agnostify.com/audit.
How we measure
Each question is asked as written, from a logged-out United States session on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode.
How is a score calculated?
On a category board, the score is the share of every valid run across that category's questions that names the brand, over a rolling four weeks, with a 95% Wilson interval. Rows are ordered by the low end of that interval, so a brand named on one question cannot outrank one named across the category. A brand named in fewer than 10 runs, or on only one question, sits below the line as low confidence. On a question page the share is of that question's runs. Where a name sits in the answer is not a rank.
Which brands count where?
Names are matched to a reviewed brand list, and a brand counts only on questions in its own category. Names that are ordinary words, such as Streak, Loops and Instantly, count only when the answer clearly means the product. A CRM named as an integration in a meeting-notes answer is not a point on the meeting-notes board. A brand named in the question itself, as in “alternatives to Profound”, is not scored on that question, so those runs count neither for nor against it. A name that is not on the list stays off the board until a person adds it.
Will this match a signed-in chat?
A logged-out session has no memory and no personalization, so a signed-in person can see a different answer.
Cited pages are the sources that engine marked as citations, not every link in the raw response.
